Ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) guard against accidental electrocution by monitoring the current traveling to and from an electrical load. A difference in current greater than 5 mA triggers a manually resettable electrical disconnect which quickly isolates power from the load. GFCIs can be added to existing circuits through in-line splicing, outlet box mounted modules, cord end plugs, or panel mounted sensing modules.
