Hex keys or wrenches, also known by the trademark "Allen" name, are used with screw fasteners having a simple hexagonal socket in their heads. The Torx (also a trademark) style, known alternatively as star or hexalobular screw head form, exaggerates the points of the basic hexagon form into a 6-pointed star shape, allowing increased torque transfer or reduced likelihood of screw head damage.
