ATA5787
The ATA5787 is a high-performance analog front-end (AFE) IC designed for automotive applications, particularly in tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). It integrates a complete signal conditioning chain, including a precision low-noise amplifier, programmable gain amplifier (PGA), and a 16-bit sigma-delta ADC. The device supports both single- and dual-channel configurations, enabling flexible design options for different sensor types such as piezoresistive or capacitive pressure sensors.
This AFE offers excellent linearity and stability over temperature, with an integrated self-calibration feature that minimizes drift and ensures long-term accuracy. Its low power consumption—typically less than 100 µA in active mode—makes it ideal for battery-powered systems where energy efficiency is critical. The chip also includes built-in diagnostics, such as sensor open/short detection and internal voltage reference monitoring, which enhance system reliability and reduce the need for external components.
The ATA5787 operates from a supply voltage range of 2.7 V to 5.5 V, compatible with standard automotive power rails. It features an SPI-compatible serial interface for easy integration with microcontrollers or host processors, allowing for efficient data transfer and configuration. The device supports multiple operating modes—including sleep, idle, and active—to optimize power usage based on system requirements.
Designed for harsh automotive environments, the ATA5787 meets AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification standards and provides robust electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performance. It is housed in a compact 32-pin QFN package, suitable for space-constrained applications. Its advanced noise filtering and anti-aliasing capabilities ensure clean signal acquisition even in electrically noisy vehicle environments.
Applications include direct TPMS, where accurate pressure and temperature sensing are essential for safety and compliance with regulatory standards. It is also suitable for other industrial and automotive sensing tasks requiring precise analog signal processing, such as fuel level sensing, brake fluid monitoring, and environmental pressure measurement. The chip’s flexibility, low power draw, and comprehensive diagnostic features make it a reliable choice for modern embedded sensing systems in vehicles.
