MCP1754
The MCP1754 is a low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator manufactured by Microchip Technology, designed for efficient and stable voltage regulation in portable and battery-powered applications. It delivers a fixed output voltage of 3.3V with a maximum output current of 250mA, making it ideal for powering microcontrollers, sensors, and other low-power digital circuits. The device operates from an input voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V, providing flexibility across various power sources including single-cell batteries or multi-cell configurations.
This regulator features ultra-low quiescent current—typically 2.5μA in active mode and as low as 0.1μA in shutdown mode—which significantly extends battery life in energy-sensitive systems. Its integrated thermal shutdown and over-current protection ensure reliable operation under adverse conditions, enhancing system robustness without external components. The MCP1754 also offers excellent line and load regulation, maintaining a stable output voltage even when input voltage or load current varies.
Designed for space-constrained applications, the MCP1754 is available in a compact 6-pin SOT-23 package, simplifying PCB layout and reducing overall board size. It includes an enable pin for power management, allowing external control of the regulator’s on/off state to further reduce power consumption during idle periods. The device supports fast transient response, minimizing voltage droop during sudden load changes, which is critical for maintaining performance in digital systems.
Common applications include wearable electronics, IoT devices, handheld instruments, wireless sensor nodes, and embedded systems where stability, low power consumption, and small footprint are essential. Its compatibility with a wide range of input voltages and minimal external component requirements make it suitable for both new designs and retrofits in existing products. The MCP1754 meets RoHS compliance and is built for high reliability in industrial and consumer environments.
