TC4432
The TC4432 is a high-speed, dual-channel MOSFET driver manufactured by Microchip Technology, designed for efficient switching in power electronics applications. It features a low propagation delay of typically 15 ns and a fast rise/fall time of less than 10 ns, enabling precise control of high-current loads. Each channel can source or sink up to 1.5 A of peak current, making it suitable for driving both N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs in various configurations such as half-bridge, full-bridge, and buck converters.
This device operates from a supply voltage range of 4.5 V to 18 V, offering compatibility with a wide range of logic levels, including TTL and CMOS inputs. The internal charge pump circuit allows the driver to provide sufficient gate drive voltage even when operating at high-side configurations, ensuring reliable turn-on of the MOSFETs. Additionally, the TC4432 includes built-in protection features such as undervoltage lockout (UVLO) to prevent erroneous operation during power-up or brownout conditions.
One of its key characteristics is the ability to operate in push-pull mode with minimal dead time, reducing switching losses and improving overall system efficiency. The device also provides short-circuit protection through current limiting, which helps safeguard both the driver and the connected MOSFETs under fault conditions. Its compact SO-8 package facilitates easy integration into space-constrained designs while maintaining thermal performance through efficient heat dissipation.
The TC4432 is commonly used in applications such as DC-DC converters, motor drives, inverters, and industrial power supplies where fast switching, high reliability, and robust protection are critical. It supports high-frequency switching up to several hundred kHz, making it ideal for modern power management systems that demand high efficiency and minimal electromagnetic interference (EMI). Its versatility in handling both low-side and high-side MOSFETs, along with the ability to drive multiple devices in parallel for increased current capability, further enhances its utility in demanding environments.
Engineers appreciate the TC4432 for its consistent performance across temperature ranges and its compatibility with standard digital control signals, simplifying the design process without compromising on functionality or safety.
