DRA710
The DRA710 is a high-performance system-on-chip (SoC) from Texas Instruments designed for industrial and automotive applications requiring advanced processing, real-time control, and connectivity. It features a dual-core ARM Cortex-A15 MPCore processor running at up to 1.2 GHz, enabling efficient execution of complex algorithms and multitasking workloads. The SoC also includes a single-core ARM Cortex-M4F microcontroller for real-time tasks such as motor control, sensor fusion, and safety-critical functions, ensuring deterministic performance alongside the application processor.
Integrated within the DRA710 is a powerful imaging subsystem with a dedicated image signal processor (ISP), supporting up to 12 megapixels per second for high-resolution camera input. This makes it ideal for applications like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), machine vision, and industrial inspection systems. Additionally, the device supports multiple display outputs, including LVDS, RGB, and HDMI, allowing flexible integration into human-machine interfaces (HMIs) and dashboard displays.
The DRA710 offers robust connectivity options, including Ethernet MACs, USB 2.0 OTG, and CAN-FD interfaces, facilitating seamless communication in industrial automation, robotics, and vehicle networking environments. Its rich set of peripherals—such as UARTs, SPI, I2C, and PWM—supports diverse sensor and actuator integration. A dedicated hardware accelerator for cryptographic operations enhances security in data transmission and storage, critical for compliance in automotive and industrial standards.
Designed for low power consumption, the DRA710 incorporates dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) and multiple power domains, enabling energy-efficient operation across varying workloads. It operates reliably over an extended temperature range (-40°C to +105°C), making it suitable for harsh environments typical in industrial and automotive settings. The chip is packaged in a thermally enhanced 8mm x 8mm BGA with 256 pins, offering excellent thermal dissipation and board-level reliability.
This SoC is optimized for applications such as industrial control systems, digital signage, medical imaging devices, and automotive infotainment and driver monitoring systems. Its combination of high computational performance, real-time control capabilities, rich peripheral support, and scalable architecture allows developers to build robust, future-proof embedded solutions.
