TMCS1143

The TMCS1143 is a high-precision, low-power analog-to-digital converter (ADC) designed by Texas Instruments for accurate signal measurement in industrial and automotive applications. It features a 16-bit sigma-delta ADC architecture, enabling exceptional resolution and noise performance, with a typical signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of over 90 dB. The device supports up to 250 kSPS (kilosamples per second) data rate, making it suitable for both slow-changing and dynamic sensor signals. This converter includes an integrated programmable gain amplifier (PGA), which allows flexible input range configuration from ±10 mV to ±2.5 V, eliminating the need for external signal conditioning circuitry. It also provides built-in self-calibration and offset compensation, enhancing long-term accuracy and reducing system drift. The TMCS1143 operates on a single 3.3 V supply, consuming less than 1.5 mW of power in active mode, making it ideal for battery-powered or energy-constrained systems. The device supports both SPI and I2C serial interfaces, offering compatibility with a wide range of microcontrollers and digital signal processors. Its robust design includes comprehensive diagnostic features such as internal temperature sensing, supply voltage monitoring, and error detection logic, ensuring reliable operation in harsh environments. Additionally, the TMCS1143 includes a hardware reset pin and configurable watchdog timer for improved system safety. Common applications include precision temperature sensing, pressure measurement, current sensing, and industrial process control systems. It is especially suited for use in automotive engine management, battery monitoring systems, and medical instrumentation where high accuracy, low power, and reliability are critical. The chip’s small 4 mm × 4 mm QFN package facilitates compact board designs while maintaining excellent thermal and electrical performance. Texas Instruments ensures long-term availability and quality through rigorous testing and compliance with automotive-grade standards (AEC-Q100). The TMCS1143 is designed to meet the demands of modern embedded systems requiring precise analog signal acquisition with minimal external components and maximum efficiency.
