TMP64-Q1
The TMP64-Q1 is a high-accuracy, low-power temperature sensor designed for automotive applications, manufactured by Texas Instruments. It offers a measurement range from -40°C to +150°C with an accuracy of ±0.5°C over the industrial temperature range, making it ideal for demanding environments where precise thermal monitoring is critical. The device features a digital output interface using the I²C protocol, enabling seamless integration into existing system architectures without requiring additional analog-to-digital conversion hardware.
This sensor operates on a supply voltage range of 2.7 V to 5.5 V, supporting both 3.3 V and 5 V systems commonly found in automotive electronics. Its low quiescent current—typically 1.8 µA in active mode—ensures minimal power consumption, which is essential for battery-powered or energy-sensitive applications such as electric vehicle battery management systems. The TMP64-Q1 also includes built-in self-test functionality and supports configurable alert thresholds, allowing users to set high and low temperature alarms that trigger interrupts via the I²C interface.
Designed to meet AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification standards, the TMP64-Q1 is suitable for harsh automotive environments, including engine compartments, transmission systems, and under-hood applications. It features robust electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI), ensuring reliable operation even in noisy electrical environments typical of modern vehicles. The device’s small 3 mm × 3 mm WSON package provides efficient board space utilization while maintaining excellent thermal performance.
Functionally, the TMP64-Q1 supports continuous temperature measurements at user-selectable sampling rates up to 1 kHz, offering flexibility for real-time monitoring needs. It includes a programmable oversampling feature that enhances resolution and reduces noise, particularly beneficial in precision control loops. Additionally, the sensor supports multi-drop I²C bus configurations, enabling multiple devices to share the same bus for distributed temperature sensing across a system.
Its wide operating voltage range, high accuracy, and robust design make the TMP64-Q1 a versatile solution for applications such as motor control, battery monitoring, climate control systems, and electronic control units (ECUs). By combining reliability, low power consumption, and ease of integration, this sensor meets the stringent requirements of automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers seeking dependable thermal management solutions in next-generation vehicle platforms.
