TPS22992
The TPS22992 is a high-performance, low-side power switch designed by Texas Instruments for efficient power management in portable and battery-powered systems. It features a very low on-resistance of 14 mΩ (typical), enabling minimal power loss and high efficiency during operation. The device supports a wide input voltage range from 1.8 V to 5.5 V, making it suitable for various supply conditions commonly found in mobile devices, IoT sensors, and embedded systems.
This power switch integrates advanced protection mechanisms including over-current protection (OCP), thermal shutdown, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO). These features enhance system reliability and prevent damage due to abnormal operating conditions. Additionally, the TPS22992 includes a built-in soft-start function that limits inrush current during turn-on, reducing stress on the power supply and connected components.
The device operates with a logic-level control input, allowing compatibility with standard CMOS and TTL signals, and offers fast switching speeds with propagation delays as low as 30 ns. Its compact package—typically a 6-pin SOT-23 or DSBGA—makes it ideal for space-constrained applications such as smartphones, wearables, and portable medical devices.
In terms of functionality, the TPS22992 provides seamless load disconnect and reconnection capabilities, enabling precise power sequencing and dynamic power control in multi-rail systems. It also supports bidirectional current flow, which adds flexibility in managing power delivery in complex circuits.
Applications include power gating in microcontrollers, enabling sleep modes in battery-operated devices, powering peripheral modules like sensors and displays, and implementing smart power distribution in industrial and consumer electronics. The TPS22992’s robust design ensures stable performance across varying environmental conditions, including temperature ranges from -40°C to +125°C, making it well-suited for both commercial and industrial environments.
