Modules are available as Serial (SIR), Mid (MIR) and Far (FIR) variations with side or top view options. The Infrared Data Association (IrDa) provides protocol specifications for wireless data communication such as IrDA 1.x and IrPHY 1.x for use with infrared transceivers.
